ART welcomes the opportunity to enhance government accountability
Where there is huge wastage of public funds on major projects, and particularly where organisations aligned to government
benefit from those public funds, corruption issues inevitably arise requiring Government accountability.
ART welcomes the opportunity to enhance government accountability by encouraging the establishment of a Royal
Commission into corruption in the Big Build as foreshadowed by the Hon. Ben Carroll, with appropriate terms of reference
and leadership.
The Government should also immediately introduce legislative amendments to the IBAC Act to enable it to follow the
money, investigate soft corruption, conduct public hearings whenever it serves the public interest as the Government has
previously announced but they should not be deferred until after the election.
