Open Government Workshop, 12 Feb 2020, 1.30-4.30pm

Interested in government transparency, accountability and how to power public participation?

You are invited to a workshop to hear about open government and to share your ideas.

Keynote speakers are

* Daniel Stewart (Law, ANU) Reporting on Australian open government reforms to date.
* Professor Gabi Buchholz (University of Osnabrück, Germany) Open government in Germany and Australia.
* Fiona McLeod, AO, SC. Next steps in open government.

Open government is a channel for change for everyone – citizens and public servants from all levels of government.

It is a way for people to work together to identify opportunities and develop commitments to strengthen our democracy, fight corruption, and improve services and outcomes for citizens.

Established in 2011, the Open Government Partnership (OGP) is a global community of people inside and outside of government from over 70 countries committed to making their governments responsive to citizens’ needs and harness new ways to strengthen governance.

The Australian Government signed up to the Open Government Partnership in 2015. With two National Action Plans underway, we are now creating our third.

Please join us to:

* hear three presentations about how open government has progressed thus far at a federal level and the potential for state and local government participation.

* contribute your ideas for commitments for Australia’s third National Action Plan

The Workshop will work best with no more than 40 participants so please book early to guarantee a place.

We look forward to your contributions.
